Possible Locations

When our group were deciding different locations during planning, we brainstormed many ideas and developed the chosen idea in detail. This included the lighting, the shot type, the different objects in the shot, etc. We all agreed to do the main shots in a garage as it fitted well with the crime thriller genre. At first, we were going to do a small dark room, however, because there were problems of not being able to access a room like that, we thought of a garage as it was more convenient and easier to access.

Ishma’s Garage - This location is dark, gloomy, and scary. It is the right environment in which you would keep someone if you were to kidnap them. This is why we will be using this location. We could use an empty bedroom however we cannot get hold of one.

Ishma's Living Room -As we are already filming in the garage, it will be convenient to film the other shots in the same place. We need a basic house to film the scene of the man exiting the house and so this will look natural

The Road - This is Ishma's drive way and road. We need a scene of the man getting in the car and driving off. Again, for connivance reasons, filming here will be best as we will not have to constantly change locations which is less time consuming and it is not a busy area so with hardly any noise, it will be easier to film here.
The Bedrooms - The first bedroom is a bit too posh. The viewer would think why a man involved in dangerous things would have a posh bedroom. The second bedroom is more simple and so we will be using this. It is also in Ishma’s house and so is convenient.

The Park - The park a few roads down from our location is perfect for filming the exchange. Its not too loud, and its excluded from main traffic. Its easy to get to and is a perfect location.

Camera Issues

We used Shazmaa’s camera, which saved us time as booking the school's cameras took time because majorty of the other students were booking aswell. We would have wasted time buying a tape to film on and we just wanted to start filming as soon as possible so we left the school cameras and used our own. It was okay in the preliminary task, however it has come out slightly blurry which is a slight problem. When working in a group with more than two people there will always be some disagreement due to contrasting ideas. This will inevitability cause difficulty with particular aspects with the film's production. Finally after much debate, our story is based around an exchange of money. The victim gets himself kidnapped and killed as he doesn't have the money. The actor who shoots him realises he has to flee and runs away and then gets killed. We end it here, as this causes suspense. The idea came from Shazmaa, myself and our two actors. We think it works well but it could leave the audience confused. However, we decided to risk it and challenge ourselves.

4/3/11

After putting everything in order, we had to put the flashbacks into grey scale which is what I done. This is so that the viewer understands that it is in the past. Initially, we were going to have the flashback and then go to the present of the man in the garage. However, to add more effect, we put flashback shots in the sequence of the man in the garage. This is slightly confusing which is why we put it in black and white so that it is clearer. Next lesson we will add in the title, credits and the sound effects.

Editing

Today was a productive lesson as we managed to develop more on our editing. Myself and Ishma have completed editing all the shots, include the two images in the sequence which was the establishing shot and the text message image, and also put the entire sequence in order.
However, we came across a few problems. For example, when we looked over the film as a whole, we realised that in the dialogue scene, we had brocken the 180 degrees rule. Myself and Ishma decided to re- do this whole scene, but unfortunately, when it came to contacting our two actors, they had said that neither of them were avaliable before our deadline. Instead, we are going to stick with what we have already as it is better to have something rather than nothing.
Another problem we came across was that when watching the film, it still looked slightly incomplete as it did not make sense. So to overcome this problem, we are going to do one or two more shots which will not take long. To do this, Ishma is going to take the camera and do that last few shots on the weekend with one of the actors as myself and the rest of the group are not available at that time. At first, we did not know what we were going to do to complete it, however I thought of an idea and shared it amoungst my group which they all agreed too.
Next lesson, we are aiming to add in the sound and special effects, include the last few shots and edit them as well.

Editing Problems

Today we came across a lot of problems. we  spent a very long time trying to upload an image of the text message, however it was in the wrong format and so we needed help from the technician. Then we started saving our work to a USB but it wasnt saving and took over an hour and so we stopped saving as we ran out of time and so we lost just one or two shots. Today was not productive but we will re-do this in our lesson tomorrow.
